This study of 65 bridges was undertaken in association with Burns & Roe Worley. The study group comprises a set of 65 bridges under RTA control that were:

*constructed of reinforced concrete,

*of slab, beam and/or arch form,

*and built prior to 1948.

The objectives incorporated in the brief are summarised as follows:

1. Assessment of each individual bridge against each of the significance criteria as defined by

the NSW Heritage Office, and to provide a rating to each bridge of either State Significance,

Local Significance or No Significance.

2. Provide a ranking of the bridges in order of heritage significance

3. Prepare a statement of heritage significance for each bridge.

4. Enter information on each bridge into the RTA’s Heritage and Conservation Register.

5. On the basis of the above, establish the heritage significance of all Pre-1948 RTA Controlled

Concrete Slab and Concrete Arch road bridges in NSW.

Sue was comissioned to assess the impact of nearby subdivision on the heritage significance of Glenhope. She examined the proposed subdivision plan and inspected the site. While the subdivision proposed divides Glenhope from a corrugated iron shed built by Bill Salisbury in the 1960s, the subdivision does not in itself destroy the physical linkages between the two buildings. The shed was not considered to be a heritage item.

Sue was instrumental in advocating for the nomination of the Yellow House, 57-59 Macleay St, Potts Point, to the NSW Heritage Register. 

The Yellow House is of heritage significance because of its historical association with significant artists and an artistic tradition that has been synonymous with the area from at least the 1920s. It is socially significant because of its identification with these people and to the residents of the area who associate the Yellow House with a past that was characterised by a strong artistic and creative presence.
